Love it when I stumble onto a free, fun surprise! That's what I found in this 2019 Workplace Kindness Calendar from the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation (click the image for the free download). Yes, it's a calendar to remind grown ups to be kinder to ourselves and each other. Wouldn't it be great if everyone at school, the government, Walmart, on Facebook, at the ballgame... oh, the list could go on!... could be kinder.
Which starts right here with being kinder to ourselves. I don't have to be perfect for everyone and at all times. It's okay to take a breath, take a break, eat lunch at a table, go first in line once in a while. Of course that's hard! It's not how we've been programmed, it's not what's expected of a school counselor. But I remind myself, doormats are not good role models. In 2019 I will be kind to others, but I'm also going to work on being kinder to me.
